DMK Weekend

My long awaited DMK21AUG618 webcam arrived on Friday. This probably explains why most of the weekend there was either total or partial cloud cover. Got all the drivers and software loaded on the pooter, plugged it all in and Bingo – everything works. The USB 2 hub on the pier didn’t like it when I tried to run the camera off it – saying there wasn’t enough power- but just plugging in the power…

Farewell PX600, Welcome PX100 Cool

Six packs of IP film turned up from the Netherlands this morning. All in preparation for next weeks Pola Flickr trundle in the Big Smoke. Trying not to blow more than a couple of packs between now and then otherwise I’ll look like a tit with no film.

Sunspot 1476

Well I think I’m starting to make progress. I’ve been trying to get a converter that will turn the .MOV files outputted from the Nikon 5100, into an AVI format that can be read by Registax. The Green Flash

I’m desperately trying to use the rest of this pack of PX600, so I can try IP’s new PX70 cool. Two more piccys and I’m away.

With all the technical issues of the mount now resolved, we built up a 10 point pointing model and used that to refine the Polar alignment. It’s probably not accurate enough for long exposure photography, but fine for the current program of visual observation….

Mare Imbrium Reprocess

With the cloud base 50 metres below the house, I guess I won’t be opening up the Observatory tonight then! Rummaging through the files on the laptop, I came across some avi’s taken last year for a Moon mosaic I was working on. With nothing better to do, I reloaded this section into Registax six to try and eak out a little more detail. What struck me was the radial ejecta from Aristillus which…
