Managed to get an evening before sunset with the Moon up, to really give the camera and focuser a good test.

The biggest high of this whole session has been the electric focuser. You can do all this remotely and in the warm and I can’t believe how useful this bit of kit is. I’m reminded of the focusing sessions in the old DBO1, where I had to stand on a short ladder, while turning the focusing knob and watching the FWHM numbers on the screen below changing. It was never a really precise exercise  and it always seems to take about 10 minutes to find a spot that was consistently sharp.

At the moment I’m just pressing the focus buttons manually, but Sharpcap has a limited semi autofocus tool included,  so this should hopefully make this whole process a doddle.
