This has been one of those jobs that was at the top of the list when we got the tractor.
Finally got round to start rebuilding the fallen walls around the policies. The first one completed was in the Ivytree Field.
First you have to dig out all the fallen rock and most of the soil back down to either ground level, or at least something that is stable.
The other side was looking a bit precarious, but should be OK once the infill between the two faces was back in.
Just getting to the top
Just tapping everything level with the bucket. This just leaves a bit of topsoil and grass on the top to blend it in with the rest of the wall and it’s done.
The whole process took most of the afternoon and you can see why a professional dry stonewall wall rebuild costs in the region of £50 – £90 a metre.
