Notes: More from my three day adventure to Manchester. This is one of the reading alcoves in the John Rylands Library – a Victorian Gothic building commissioned by the wife of her late husband John Rylands in 1900. The building has recently undergone painstaking reconstruction and the addition of an ultra modern wing which houses a book and coffee shop.
